Let's Do It Again - June 2010 |
If you missed out last year, or are a returning Winemaking Club member, we have good news! We've contacted our vineyard in California, and they are on schedule for another great harvest! Sellai Vineyards is a fourth generation grape growing family from the Tuscany region of Italy, and they will be our source for Red Zinfandel grapes this harvest! Red Zinfandel, better known as Primitivo in Italy, is a great food wine and very easy to drink.
Here is a description of Central Valley Zinfandel from www.zinfandel.org:
Winemakers have described the aromas of Central Valley Zinfandel as showing notes of spicy cherry liqueur, pie cherries, clove and nutmeg; the most common flavor descriptors are ripe blueberries, cranberry, dried plum, toasted almond and pepper. Central Valley wines tend toward soft, low tannins.
